Rest in the Divine Indwelling of love

These beautiful words of advice are from the Proslogion of St Anselm that was part of the Office of Readings for today.  In the busyness and stress of life, we can forget that God is always near us and within us. As baptised Catholics we have the honour and privilege to be a Temple of the Holy Spirit, and so we also have what is called the “Divine Indwelling” of the Holy Trinity. For where one person of the Trinity is - the other two are also present.

Today I invite you to take some quiet time with God. Sit in silence, breathe and focus on the fact that God loves you so much that he unites himself with you through the sacraments and prayer. Seek out the Lord, but don’t go searching outside, seek within. Look for God in the inner recesses of your heart. Raise up your mind and your soul to God, recollect yourself and offer your heart as the altar of communion.

Abide with Jesus in the silence of yourself, and He will make His Presence known to you. Rest in His love, soak in intimacy with the Creator of heaven & earth who chooses to seek you out and hide in you - so that you have to go within yourself to find He has always been with you.
